Since his inauguration, the President and his administration have pursued aggressive trade policies with higher import tariffs on nearly every U.S. trading partner, thereby challenging the post-WWII global trade order. This talk will review the economic fundamentals of tariffs and trade before analyzing how the new tariffs have affected the U.S. and other economies to date. We will also consider the (un)expected long-term impacts of current U.S. trade policies.
